ROB RAESIDE
Rob Raeside is a glass object maker, working with the medium since 2008. He studied at Sir Sanford Fleming College, Peterborough ON and Sheridan College, Toronto ON, where he was selected as the recipient of the Daniel Crichton Memorial Award.
Rob has developed a series of organic, sculptural glass pieces entitled Summa. inspired by everyday glass objects such as perfume bottles and decanters. He expands and alters the notion to create extraordinarily beautiful, glass pieces that transcend from object to art. At the same time, he creates more traditionally shaped vessels incorporating the vibrant colours developed for Summa, or exploring the calmness of white, black and clear glass.
Rob’s work is driven by the inherent complexities of what appears to be simple, and a constant desire to refine his technique. In 2018, he was an Artist-in-Residence (Glass) at Harbourfront Centre, Toronto ON.
Rob Raeside lives and creates in Hamilton ON.
