Kaitlin Mason

Kaitlin Mason is a BFA graduate from NSCAD University in Halifax, NS.

Kaitlin Mason creates her trompe-l’oeil fabric drawings by using multiple layers of coloured pencil on a wood panel surface. This ongoing series entitled Entities, focuses on the details of intricate garments and fabrics situated on wood panels, adding an additional element of organic detail.

By playing with light and shadows the piled piece of fabric transforms an otherwise mundane item into a sculptural entity. The small sample of fabric belonged to something larger, something more, something left unknown; it is a moment captured, never to be “that” again.

Kaitlin exhibits regularly at exhibitions and art fairs and has collectors around the world. In 2019, she received the Best of Drawing Award at Artwalk in the Square, Toronto.
