SAMUEL CHOISY

Samuel Choisy (b. 1974, France) is a visual artist working with photography as a playful way to engage with the body and the mind. His work explores the notion of mental territory through different projects, approaches, and series – however Samuel is always seeking surprise. His time-based creative process presents visual recordings of choreographed or improvised situations which occur only for the camera.

Choisy received a DNAP from l'École de l'Image d'Angoulême (1999) and a DNSEP from l'École des Beaux-Arts de Nantes (2001). He is the recipient of a Chalmers Arts Fellowship, and numerous grants from the Ontario Arts Council. His work has been showcased and published in France, many European countries, in the U.S. and in Canada. He currently lives and works in Toronto.
